Noteworthy news:

Tornado Victims….The tornado that hit Oklahoma meant the loss of life and homes for many, including horses and other animals. In keeping with the HON guiding principles (learn, have fun, give back) our club is sending a donation to help the equine victims of the May, 2013 tornados. We will be sending $100 to the Relief Fund of Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Services. The OSU Animal Relief Fund will be used to cover the costs of veterinary medical care for animals injured during Oklahoma’s recent tornadoes. Animal owners will not be charged for veterinary services; they have suffered devastating losses and OSU wants to provide needed veterinary care. We can help them do that. If you are interested in making a personal contribution or want to learn more about this particular organization, visit http://www.cvhs.okstate.edu/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=853&Itemid=124

Remember, what happened in Oklahoma could happen here. Make sure you know what to do! There are lots of resources on the web explaining what to do in case of weather emergencies. The important thing is to have a plan. Know that in the case of catastrophic high-wind events, most experts say that your horses are safer outside, especially if they have access to a large pasture with natural protection. You will want to minimize the chance of objects becoming flying “missiles” and you will want to identify your horse somehow, even if it is just writing your cell phone number with a permanent marker on your horse’s hoof.

Wish and Wine date has been set!! Mark your calendars, it will be December 7, 2013 from 6:00 – 9:30 p.m. at West 20 Saddle Company in East Troy WI.

Gaited Peruvian Paso for sale. 12 years old, beautiful, lovely gaits. Bought for my daughter who promptly became uninterested in horses. Too nice a girl to go without a job. She hasn’t been ridden much in the last few years, she is too fast for what I want in a trail horse. She needs a experienced, confident rider to increase her confidence and bring out the jewel she is.. I have dragged my feet putting her up for sale, I really like this horse, I wish I was 30 instead of 60.. She is 15 hands, maybe a hair more. She has had Parelli training and a discount will be given for a natural horse home. I am asking $750 for her. She is up to date with shots, worming, farrier and has a neg coggins. She is first to greet you, kind and gentle. Cheri Trick 608-290-8878

Upcoming Events
This is a tentative calendar of events and details or dates may change! Be sure to contact the person organizing the event to stay updated, and if possible, join/decline/maybe the event on Facebook so you have it on your calendar and stay informed. As always, you don’t have to camp to join in one of our camping weekends, dropping in for a day ride or potluck is just fine! Each ride is different, but you can usually plan on groups riding out around 9-10 am and getting together for a pot luck dinner on Saturday around 5-6ish pm. Often there will be other rides and activities going on, such as group movies, campfires, swimming, fish fry, etc, See the event coordinator for details. *NOTE* some events may be found on the “other events” section of our website calendar, if they are not a HON event.

Please watch our Facebook site for any updates and new events if possible, and use this great resource to connect with other riders, campers and just for fun events in general!
