May 2013 Hags on Nags Newsletter
Please submit any news, events or classifieds to firstname.lastname@example.org and I will include them in the next newsletter. My goal is to have the newsletter done and out by the 30th of each month.
Trails are opening…
We are all excited that the trails are beginning to open for the season, but please do your part as a responsible trail rider and call ahead to make sure the trails are open before you head out. Many county parks and even the large state parks close their trails when the conditions are wet to prevent damage, often they have a recorded message updated each day. Help keep the trails open to horseback riding!
The new website is up and running!
New calendar events are added regularly, including “other” events from outside the club. Check it out when you are looking for something to do!
The bios are a great way for members to get to know one another…please take advantage of the feature! Contact email@example.com to submit your Bio. You can also send in your favorite photos and/or videos for the Gallery.
Also, take a look at the Trail Review and consider adding more reviews about places you’ve been to…especially out-of-state trails. Now is the time when people are planning trips and this could really be helpful.
The “Resource” section has some great downloads for camping, including packing checklists and first aid kit supplies for both horses and humans as well as articles that are particularly important in the spring time, trailer checkups and conditioning your horse!

I am considering leasing my QH mare Sunshine to someone that is wanting to trail ride. Sunshine just turned 14, stands 14.3 hands and was my lesson horse for many years. She is very level headed, quiet and has smooth gaits. Not only is she an obstacle course pro but she has packed many first time riders down the trails. The lease would be for here on my farm, include her board, farrier, vetting and western tack (16″ saddle). Price is scaled according to how much riding time wanted and length of time the lease is signed for. There is an outdoor arena for use, some wooded trails and I have permission for us to ride the adjoining fields.
Edgerton area. Thank you and Happy Trails! Heather Lekan 608-206-0596 firstname.lastname@example.org

This is a tentative calendar of events and details or dates may change! Be sure to contact the person organizing the event to stay updated, and if possible, join/decline/maybe the event on Facebook so you have it on your calendar and stay informed. As always, you don’t have to camp to join in one of our camping weekends, dropping in for a day ride or potluck is just fine! Each ride is different, but you can usually plan on groups riding out around 9-10 am and getting together for a pot luck dinner on Saturday around 5-6ish pm. Often there will be other rides and activities going on, such as group movies, campfires, swimming, fish fry, etc, See the event coordinator for details. *NOTE* some events may be found on the “other events” section of our website calendar, if they are not a HON event.
