February 2013 Hags on Nags Newsletter
Please submit any news, events or classifieds to firstname.lastname@example.org and I will include them in the next newsletter. My goal is to have the newsletter done and out by the 30th of each month.
Please take note!!
Send in your 2013 membership dues, or you will be removed from the mailing list and Facebook group!
Last date to send is March 16th.
Send $10 and your membership form to: Sherri Torrison 8235 County Road KK Milton, WI 53563
Also, if you have not already, send an email to Bridgette: email@example.com AND add her to your contact list. This accomplishes two things; one, it ensures Bridgette has your current email address on file, and two, by adding her to your contact list, her emails should never go to your “junk” or “spam” email folders.
In case you haven’t noticed, our current website could use a drastic make-over! Part of the problem with maintaining the current site has been the fact that updating it is quite technical. No worries. Plans are currently underway for a new HON website. We plan to use a much more user-friendly format, making updates simpler and enabling us to keep things current. That means that the appearance of the website will change. We’ll lose some features but gain others. Please be patient…improvements are on the way!
One thing we’d like to keep (and improve on!) is member bios. After all, our members are what make our group what it is. We are asking that you ALL submit a photo and a little write up about yourself. Please limit yourself to ONE photo (preferably of you and your horse) and ONE paragraph, keeping it under 200 words. Many of us have bios out there already, but they are quite dated. Please give your bio a little make-over too! If you need a “ghost writer” or someone to edit what you have written, we can arrange that. The plan is to have these bios featured on the front page of the new website. Be aware that these will be a great way to get to know each other a little better, but they will also be open to the public. Your personal data (like address/phone/email) will remain password protected.
When you do your bio (or bio facelift!) please consider including the information listed below. Also, understand that we reserve the right to edit if necessary. And remember, if you send this information and prefer someone to write it for you, we can arrange that, too! For more information or to send your picture and bio, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org

The HON Book Club is on to Book #2 and open to new participants. The next book will be The Mare’s Nest by Lesley
Kagan. Here’s a review “This was a very entertaining book – I enjoyed both the mother/daughter relationship and the look into the competitive world of horse showing. Having grown up in a horsey family and shown my whole life – I thought the description of both the good and the bad was a very good read.” Local barn, local author. Trudie M. will be moderator. Contact her if you want to join in on the discussion email@example.com
2014 Hags on Nags Calendar
Fawn Richards will be photographing for the calendar project throughout the year. A summary of the plans for this project was sent out in a previous email, but we would like to encourage everyone to get involved! Take on a month and plan a theme, arrange for a location and get people together! To schedule your photo shoot, contact Fawn: firstname.lastname@example.org
HON Biggest Losers 2 recently came to an end after 12 weeks of weight watching. Eleven gals participated, and together they lost a whopping 65.7 pounds!!! Winners were Ronda S. in first place, Maggie F. in second, and Audrey K. in third place. Congratulations, ladies! Biggest Losers 3 will start March 14th if there is enough interest. It’s really quite simple, think of a code name, weigh in every week, and put $20 in the kitty. After 12 weeks, the top three biggest losers split the pot. Everyone really wins by watching what they eat. If you are interested, contact email@example.com
“Diving into Dodge” Takes a Dive!
The exercise and letter writing day that was planned for early March has been canceled due to lack of interest. Hopefully,
folks will write to the DNR on their own and express a need for action. Please consider lifting a pen and doing your share to help get a better Horse Camp in one of our state’s loveliest parks! If you would like sample letter templates you could contact Sue Nardini or Sandy Rogers. Letters should be addressed to:

Each ride is different, but you can usually plan on groups riding out around 9-10 am and getting together for a pot luck dinner on Saturday around 5-6ish pm. Often there will be other rides and activities going on, such as group movies, campfires, swimming, fish fry, etc., See the event coordinator for details.
